Boxtrot

Identify and value

Point the camera, get the facts

Stop typing out every lamp and chair. Photograph it and let Claude or ChatGPT tell you what it is and what it is worth, then keep what you like.

  1. Take a photo

Photograph the item with Boxtrot’s camera. A few angles and a close-up of the label help; up to four photos are used.

  2. Boxtrot identifies it

Tap Identify for its name, category, brand, model and condition, read from the photos and anything you already typed.

  3. Get its value and a write-up

Estimate value gives what it sells for second-hand today and what it cost new. Draft listing writes a title, a description and an asking price you can edit.

Every suggestion sits next to what the item has now: tick the ones you want and apply. Boxtrot also reads receipts (purchase date and total paid) and looks up barcodes on the web.

Boxtrot on iPhone: the Identify result for item BX-003. Each row shows the field now and what the AI suggests: name Uplift V2 Standing Desk, 60 in; category Furniture; brand Uplift; model V2 Commercial; condition Like new. Brand and model fill empty fields and are ticked, and the button reads Apply 2 fields.
AI suggests, you choose
Boxtrot on iPad: the Home move board with four columns, Undecided, Taking, Giving away and Sold / Gone. Each item card shows its tag, a photo, the category and the Paid and Now prices, and the Capture button sits at the bottom right.
Your whole move on one board
Boxtrot on iPhone: capturing a new item. The camera frames a table lamp, two item photos sit below it, the name reads Ceramic table lamp, and Save & next is at the bottom.
Snap a photo, add a name
Boxtrot on iPhone: the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, tag BX-010, in Taking, with three photos, two receipt pages and a photo of a part.

Features

Sort, sell and document a move

Moving house means deciding, for every single thing you own, whether it comes with you, gets sold or is given away. Boxtrot turns that into one board you can see at a glance.

  • Identify and value with AI

Take a photo and Claude or ChatGPT fills in the item for you, on your own key.

    • Identify: name, category, brand, model and condition, from up to four photos and whatever you already typed.
    • Estimate value: what it sells for second-hand today, and what it cost new.
    • Draft listing: a title, a description and an asking price for selling it.
    • Read receipt: the purchase date and the total paid, from a receipt page.
    • Look up barcode: the product behind a barcode, found on the web. Book barcodes are looked up for free, no key needed.
    • Every suggestion sits next to what you have. Nothing changes until you apply it, and Undo puts it back.
    • No key? “Ask your own AI app” copies a prompt and the item’s photos for you to paste into your own Claude or ChatGPT app.
  • Your whole move on one board

For every single thing you own, decide whether it comes with you, gets sold or is given away, and see it at a glance.

    • Drag items between columns (lists on iPhone): Undecided, Taking, Giving away, Sold / Gone, or your own.
    • Filter by category, room or “needs attention”; sort by value or by what you paid.
    • Keep several moves or storage units apart on separate boards.
  • Capture with the camera and Apple Pencil

Photograph an item and name it in seconds. Add more photos, receipt pages and parts later.

    • Read serial numbers and receipts with on-device text recognition.
    • Scan barcodes; book barcodes are looked up for free, other products with AI.
    • Import receipts from Files, Mail or AirDrop, including multi-page PDFs.
    • Apple Pencil: write in any field with Scribble or the large writing pad.
  • QR labels for boxes and parts

Print labels for your boxes and for every part of the furniture you take apart.

    • Each label carries the item’s tag and a QR code.
    • Scan a label with the Camera to open the item.
  • Inventory report for your insurer

A PDF and CSV for your insurer or mover, from Reports.

    • Photos, serial numbers, purchase dates, prices, receipts and totals by category.
    • Portrait or landscape, A4 or Letter, with or without branding.
    • Value now is filled in for every item you ran an AI estimate on and applied.
  • Marketplace pack

Sell or give away faster: ready-to-paste posts for everything you are giving away.

    • Each post uses the description and asking price you wrote, or the ones an AI listing draft filled in.
    • The photos are saved to an album, ready to attach.
  • Backup you control

Export a complete backup of items and photos to Files or AirDrop at any time, and restore it later.

    • Backups are there on the free version too, and always include everything.
  • iCloud sync, off until you turn it on

Keep your iPhone, iPad and Mac in step through your own private iCloud account.

    • Switch Sync with iCloud on in Settings > iCloud on each device you want in step.
    • Your inventory stays in your iCloud account; the developer cannot see it.
  • iPad, iPhone and Mac

A wall of columns on iPad and Mac, one list at a time on iPhone, with the Capture button always in reach.

    • Runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac computers with Apple silicon.
